Value
The entire system is messed up. We tend to place so much of life's meaning, in things that aren't worth much at all. Real things of value are the things we get for free in some sense. A great example of this misplaced gratitude is within our appreciation for those around us, as well as our appreciation for ourselves. Friends and family can come to us without cost and our “self” is given by default. If you have yourself you always will have someone, yet we often replace these things of value with desire, for what we do not possess. Things with high subjective value, while objectively, not having much at all. If we learn to place value in the things we do not yet have, then what we currently possess will never get the appreciation it deserves. If we constantly crave without regard for what we possess, we will never experience the moment. True gratitude is value within the self, that which surrounds it, and occupies it. Gratitude is about acknowledging the good, the things that allow us to continue being ourselves. While we are all different, I think valuing who you are is one of the most important things to experience. It has to be, because even when we dislike who we are, we still are subject to the experience of ourselves. Who we are, is what we are, so why not place our value in something that will always be with us. Material and other things aren't a representation of who we are, rather how we are seen. We are pushed to be entrapped within the physical so much that we neglect the parts of ourselves that we cannot see. To be ourselves, we have to appreciate what is within, otherwise we will be trapped in all that is outside of us. Awareness of awareness is what allows the presence of self, and there is always value in that. Love for our process of change creates a separation between the identity we create, and the identity that was created for us. We are not as we are, we are as we wish. If we stay stuck in a state of lack, the only thing we gain is a worthless perspective.
View what you trust
If it could happen, why wouldn’t it?
Too caught in the bad to see the could in it
You can't trust what you view
If you don't view what you trust
The past you been through
So in the moment you must
View the world whole
Not just the part you're in
For if you let go
Then upon you, you can depend
